Position Summary:
This role is essential in providing safety leadership and strategic guidance, spearheading continuous improvement initiatives at the operational level. As a vital member of the Safety Team, this position will offer support and counsel to site management regarding safety systems.

  • Develop and implement a proactive local safety strategy to ensure a healthy and safe operational environment.
  • Contribute to the vision for safety, enhancing existing programs and consistently rolling out new initiatives within a collaborative team setting.
  • Facilitate the growth and sustainability of a robust safety culture, aligning with the goals and practices of Foster Farms' Corporate Safety Program while acting as a catalyst for best practice sharing.
  • Oversee the safety programs at the site; propose and implement new initiatives aimed at preventing injuries and minimizing losses.
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs through regular audits, inspections, and plant walk-throughs.
  • Conduct equipment and working condition inspections, maintaining OSHA files and relevant documentation.
  • Regularly review plant operations to ensure adherence to all permits and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Identify potential violations and recommend necessary corrections.
  • Analyze accident data to determine required precautions and modifications for facility safety.
  • Communicate changes in safety procedures to Business Partners; ensure that all health and safety policies are reviewed annually or as needed based on changes in regulations.
  • Perform safety inspections and procedural audits, possessing the expertise to take immediate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Review all safety documentation, policies, procedures, and incident reports, driving change through the development of corrective actions related to root causes.
  • Investigate all safety-related incidents and complete necessary reports for risk management and corporate safety.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of existing and upcoming safety regulations at both the country and state levels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience in safety management.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety and sustainability management preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA communications, accident investigation, and safety training methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively and respond to inquiries from Business Partners.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
