Job Overview:

The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and facilities. This role requires practical skills and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. The incumbent will be engaged in various activities including:

  • Replacing electrical components such as receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Using plaster or compound to repair minor damages in walls and ceilings.
  • Maintaining plumbing fixtures including sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Painting structures and equipment to ensure proper upkeep.
  • Repairing or replacing concrete surfaces, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hanging doors and installing locks.
  • Replacing broken window panes.
  • Conducting general maintenance on machinery and equipment.

Exclusions include craft workers in formal apprenticeship programs, skilled craft workers demonstrating proficiency in specific trades, and individuals performing simple maintenance tasks not requiring specialized skills.
