Position Overview: The Chief Surveyor for Field Operations will oversee both independent and collaborative efforts with team members to conduct essential field survey tasks related to boundary delineations, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographical assessments, photo control surveys, route evaluations, and construction stakeout, all under the supervision of a Registered Professional Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the effective management of the field crew by adhering to established operating procedures and current health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to gather precise data and information efficiently.
  • Drive stakes, document detailed notes and diagrams, and maintain company equipment and survey vehicles.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in operating GPS devices, data collectors, and Total Stations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in various situations.
  • Strong understanding of land surveying principles, techniques, and practices.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided drafting principles and civil engineering practices, including construction specifications and regulations.
  • Knowledge of safe workplace principles and practices specific to the industry.
  • Capability to operate motorized equipment effectively.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in diverse field conditions.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and utilize hands, tools, and controls proficiently.
  • Ability to lift and/or move weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Competence in managing office functions efficiently, organizing tasks, setting priorities, and maintaining positive interpersonal relations with staff and clients.
  • Local travel may be required within a 300-mile radius.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a survey crew chief role is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary and hourly wages are commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical coverage, 401K, vision and dental plans, and paid time off.
