Position Overview: The Chief Surveyor for Field Operations will oversee both independent and collaborative efforts with team members to conduct essential field survey tasks related to boundary delineations, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographical assessments, photo control surveys, route evaluations, and construction stakeout, all under the supervision of a Registered Professional Surveyor.Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the effective management of the field crew by adhering to established operating procedures and current health and safety regulations.
- Utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to gather precise data and information efficiently.
- Drive stakes, document detailed notes and diagrams, and maintain company equipment and survey vehicles.
- Proficient in operating GPS devices, data collectors, and Total Stations.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in various situations.
- Strong understanding of land surveying principles, techniques, and practices.
- Familiarity with computer-aided drafting principles and civil engineering practices, including construction specifications and regulations.
- Knowledge of safe workplace principles and practices specific to the industry.
- Capability to operate motorized equipment effectively.
- Willingness to work outdoors in diverse field conditions.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and utilize hands, tools, and controls proficiently.
- Ability to lift and/or move weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
- Competence in managing office functions efficiently, organizing tasks, setting priorities, and maintaining positive interpersonal relations with staff and clients.
- Local travel may be required within a 300-mile radius.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
- A high school diploma is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in a survey crew chief role is preferred.
