Financial Reporting Accountant Job Description

Securian Financial Group is seeking a skilled Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Institutional Retirement Solutions (IRS) finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing GAAP and Statutory financial statements, collaborating with internal and external auditors, and ensuring the accuracy of accounting transactions processed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly Retirement Recordkeeping reinsurance financial statements and reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions
  • Develop and document procedures for testing changes to automated accounting feeds
  • Support the preparation and communication of financial information for auditors, insurance examiners, rating agencies, and company leaders
  • Participate in projects related to financial reporting or financial contracts
  • Reconcile monthly settlement statements and financials from third-party administrators
Qualifications:
  • Accounting experience with exposure to statutory, management-based, tax, and GAAP for financial reporting and budgeting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Math
  • Demonstrated initiative to serve as a resource for team members and independently manage projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide superior customer service to a variety of business partners
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to review and analyze financial statements and reports
  • Understanding of the structure of data within financial and administration systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to effectively multi-task and meet prescribed deadlines
