Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist II - Precision Manufacturing Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will perform intermediate to complex machining and programming activities, utilizing your skills and knowledge to execute machining strategies.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Reading and interpreting prints, specification sheets, and/or 3D files to determine program strategy
- Selecting the appropriate machine based on project specifications
- Properly locating, opening, and saving 3D files associated with projects, posting programs to machines using network links
- Programming parts using 2D and/or 3D toolpaths using Surfcam or Mastercam on mill and/or lathe; modifying existing programs to enhance efficiency
- Selecting the proper cutting tools needed to machine parts based on part geometry
- Designing custom fixtures for work holding as needed
- Calculating cutting speeds and feeds and the depth of cuts based on material and work holding
- Selecting and preparing raw materials for machining
- Setting up and operating multiple machines to perform milling and/or lathe activities
- Performing dimensional and visual inspection of parts per specifications using basic measuring equipment
- Tracking individual labor time using ERP system
- Collaborating with team members to clarify project requirements and resolve issues
- Providing advice or solutions in technical areas for less experienced machinists
- Collaborating with Project Managers to calculate time and material costs for quoting purposes
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiencies for machining and tooling selection through research and development
- Assisting with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and workstations
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proficient knowledge of print reading
- Proficient knowledge of CNC machining procedures, high tolerance machining, and geometric dimensioning
- Proficient knowledge of 2D and 3D programming
- Basic knowledge of lathe concepts; proficient knowledge required if operating lathe consistently
- Proficient knowledge of material properties
- Proficient knowledge of custom fixturing techniques
- Proficient knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics, and measurement
- Proficient knowledge of commonly used hand and power tools
- Basic knowledge of the ISO 9001 standards
- Proficient computer literacy, including Surfcam and/or MasterCAM, and ERP
