We are seeking a skilled Caltrans Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in South Lake Tahoe. The successful candidate will work under the direction of a Highway Mechanic Supervisor and/or direction of a Caltrans Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead worker, responsible for maintaining and repairing various equipment used in the Department's fleet.
About the RoleThis is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced heavy equipment mechanic to utilize their skills and knowledge in a challenging and rewarding environment. The incumbent will be working in a shop and/or field environment, constructing, inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and servicing equipment, as well as completing various records and reports.
Key Responsibilities- Work under the direction of a Highway Mechanic Supervisor and/or direction of a Caltrans Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead worker.
- Maintain and repair various equipment used in the Department's fleet.
- Construct, inspect, diagnose, repair and service equipment.
- Complete various records and reports.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A valid California Driver's License (CDL).
- The ability to travel to distant locations in inclement weather.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
