Job Summary

The Girl Scouts of Central Texas is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Camp Adventure Leader to join our team. As a key member of our camp staff, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging High Ropes, Challenge Course, Rock Wall, and Zipline programs for campers aged 6-17.

About the Role

This is a seasonal position that requires a strong commitment to delivering exceptional program experiences while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all campers. You will work closely with the Program Manager to develop and execute programming that aligns with our organization's goals and values.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement High Ropes, Challenge Course, Rock Wall, and Zipline programs that are fun, safe, and age-appropriate for campers.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure effective communication and coordination of program activities.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to campers during program activities, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Maintain accurate records of facility and equipment usage, reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the Program Manager.
  • Participate in daily camp life, including check-in, check-out, meals, and activities, demonstrating a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Work effectively as a team member, contributing to a collaborative and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old by June 1st.
  • Level 1 Archery Certification or ability to acquire by the start of camp.
  • High Ropes Facilitator Training completed by the start of camp.
  • Adherence to all Personnel Policies for Seasonal Camp Staff.
  • Excellent judgment and risk management assessment skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children aged 6-17 and their families.
  • Must reside on camp property during summer, potentially living in units with campers.
  • Satisfactory results from a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training in Girl Scout outdoor programs, camp counseling, leadership, and training techniques.
  • First aid training desirable.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and twisting upper body.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Strength and endurance required for maintaining constant supervision of campers.
  • Continuous outdoor activity and exposure to weather.
