Position Overview

The Retail Merchandise Specialist will be responsible for planning and constructing merchandise displays in various retail environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design merchandise displays that attract and engage customers.
  • Label merchandise with pricing or descriptive signage.
  • Adjust display areas or signage to reflect inventory changes or promotional events.
  • Collaborate with the team and management to implement planograms.
  • Generate innovative ideas for merchandise displays.
  • Consult with program teams to determine merchandise types and placement.
  • Build or assemble displays using various materials and tools as per specifications.
  • Work with others to source products or display items.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • Three to five years of relevant industry experience.

Skills and Abilities

This position requires a highly organized and self-motivated individual capable of working independently. Candidates should possess:

  • The ability to visualize how items will appear when rearranged.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills, with adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Visio, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and general internet usage.
  • Understanding of work processes and the ability to follow them.
  • Knowledge of products with a focus on quality.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with supervisors and colleagues.
  • The capability to follow policies and assist in training others to ensure consistency.

Training Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of company systems, policies, and procedures.
  • General safety training.
  • TCE Training.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but involves directing the work of employees involved in setting up and dismantling retail displays.

Physical Demands

Some physical exertion is required, including:

  • Regular use of hands and arms for handling, installing, and moving materials.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders and lifting/moving up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment

The role involves working in distribution center environments and at Legends Global Merchandise events, which may include exposure to dust, odors, and noise. The office environment is busy and open, with frequent interruptions. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is necessary.
