Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ancillary Coder to join our team at Imagine Staffing Technology. As an Ancillary Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of medical records, utilizing your expertise in coding systems and medical terminology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and code principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures documented in medical records, ancillary reports, and other relevant documents.
  • Collaborate with primary care staff to optimize coding of records and ensure accurate reimbursement.
  • Communicate with physicians and staff to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
  • Perform data entry of diagnostic and procedural codes into practice management systems.
  • Review system reports for undiagnosed accounts and follow up with missing or incomplete documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date on Medicare Local Medical Review policies for diagnostic coding of ancillary services.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities, adhering to facility and department policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related medical record documentation and conversations.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Certified Health Information Technology or Certified Medical Coder program, with certification by the American Health Information Management Association or the American Academy of Professional Coders.
  • Successful certification within one year of hire, with AHIMA or AAPC certification.
  • Experience with electronic health records or practice management systems preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to develop and maintain relationships with clinicians and staff.
