Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesiologist Assistant to join our team at Cleveland Clinic Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering anesthesia to patients, monitoring their physical reaction, and informing the physician of any adverse conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain a comprehensive patient history and perform relevant elements of a physical exam.
  • Discuss findings and anesthetic plan with supervising anesthesiologist before induction of anesthesia.
  • Review the patient's condition with the anesthesiologist immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia.
  • Pretest and calibrate anesthesia delivery systems.
  • Administer blood, blood products, and supportive fluids.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents.
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • Current, valid certificate of registration.
  • Written practice protocol consistent with section of the Revised Code.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required.
Work Environment

The Anesthesiologist Assistant will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements
  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions, including irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
