Banquet Houseperson Job Description

This role is responsible for ensuring the set-up, maintenance, and take-down of banquet areas according to banquet specifications. The successful candidate will provide transportation and set-up of tables, chairs, staging, audio-visual and electrical equipment, and stock necessary supplies. They will also perform basic banquet area cleaning duties and follow CSM and brand standards of quality to ensure guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure each room set-up is accurate and meets the clients' specifications.
  • Set up, maintain, and take down banquet rooms after service/event has concluded.
  • Listen attentively and follow direction from banquet supervisors.
  • Read and interpret Banquet Event Orders to ensure proper room set up.
  • Clean and maintain the banquet rooms and equipment, and other cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Transport food, assist the dishwasher, and plate for banquet events.
  • Work independently and sometimes alone.
  • Anticipate and respond to internal and external customers in a friendly, positive, and timely manner.
  • Work as a team player in meeting guests' needs and actively contribute to the efforts of other departments when necessary.
  • Responsible for proper use of all banquet collateral and equipment.
  • Adhere to cost controls to reduce expenses and waste.
  • Bring defective property to the attention of management.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with CSM, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Follow all CSM procedures for guest/associate incidents.
  • Knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.
  • Produce required volume of work by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work duties.
  • Adhere to CSM attendance policy, grooming/appearance standards, general work rules, and department procedures.
  • Attend all required department and hotel meetings.
  • Willingly assist others within and outside the department to ensure all guest needs are met.
  • Complete all assigned duties within or outside the normal scope of responsibilities.
Competencies/Skills Required:

Must have demonstrated exemplary customer service, attention to detail, and ability to perform job duties in a repetitious and fast-paced environment.

Education:

No mandatory educational requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds consistently throughout the shift, and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.

Requires ability to work in a physically demanding position, with responsibilities such as walking, standing, carrying, lifting, reaching, bending, and moving throughout the shift.
