About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Troop Camp Liaison to join our team at Girl Scouts of Western New York Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and guiding troops through camp activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Camp Programs: Develop professional goals for the summer that align with the organization's mission and camp goals. Create and implement engaging camp programs that promote the Girl Scout Promise and Law, and foster an appreciation for the outdoors.
  • Support Troops: Contact troops at least two weeks prior to the program to confirm attendance, meals, allergies, and schedule expectations. Provide constant support and remain with the core groups during their entire stay at camp.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Attend mandatory troop camp training and work with the Assistant Camp Director/Program Director to develop program schedules and themes for the troop camp groups.
  • Ensure Safety and Well-being: Responsible for the health and safety of campers, and assist in maintaining unit housekeeping, sanitation, and care of supplies.
  • Communicate Effectively: Assist in teaching activities through the use of the Girl Scout Camping program and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Work with the Assistant Camp Director/Program Director to plan activities and programs that meet the needs and interests of the campers.
Requirements
  • Experience Working with Children: Experience working with children is preferred, and a minimum age of 18 is required (per New York State Health Department).
  • Education and Certifications: High School diploma or equivalent, and current certification in Responding to Emergencies & CPR or willingness to complete certification course during designated training day.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality, strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to diversity and ability to interact with diverse populations.
