Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Dental Director, the Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing oral health assessments and preventive care, along with education on oral hygiene and disease prevention to patients.

You collaborate closely with the dental team to ensure exceptional dental care for every patient.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately and promptly complete all necessary documentation in line with departmental standards and patient insurance requirements.

Participate in the development and evaluation of hygiene protocols, auditing processes, and quality assurance measures.

Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Conduct preventive dental procedures, including prophylaxis, root planing, scaling, sealant application, and patient education on oral health.

Understand the scope of practice, consulting and referring patients to dentists, dental specialists, and medical providers as needed.

Utilize resources effectively, practicing in a cost-efficient manner.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferred.

Must possess a California Registered Hygienist license or D.D.S. License.

Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.

Skills and Experience

Ability to effectively engage with patients from various social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

Capable of working well both independently and as part of a team.

Basic computer skills are essential to meet departmental needs (e.g., electronic medical record documentation, patient background information retrieval, appointment follow-ups).

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.

Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.

Knowledge of relevant dental practices, protocols, trends, and best practices.

Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Understanding of and adherence to the scope of practice.

Upon hiring at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary will be determined based on various factors, including geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and experience.

We also prioritize pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in any final offer.

Please note that the mentioned range reflects our reasonable expectations for this role.

Typically, hiring at the top of the range is not common to allow for future salary growth.
