Neurotrauma ICU Registered Nurse

This 12-bed ICU specializes in the care of Trauma/Neurosurgery patients, including those who require Epilepsy Monitoring post-operatively. As a registered nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with patients, their families, visitors, and colleagues.
The registered nurse will assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. You will utilize delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
- Conduct age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, documenting and using them to develop a plan of care.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, patient, and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care, revising it according to changes in patient status.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to the service area.
- Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Obtain CPR and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC). Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Meet essential job functions.
