Job Summary

ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Linux and be able to travel across the United States as we deploy systems to airports and towers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in assessing complex problems and investigating, developing, appraising, selecting, and presenting solutions using engineering principles.
  • Develop specifications, implement, test, and document TAMR and STARS system and equipment.
  • Direct the maintenance or repair of electronic or mechanical devices down to the subsystem level.
  • Devises appropriate tests to use in evaluating, debugging, and checking of equipment and systems for accurate and dependable conformance to specifications.
  • Test and Evaluation policies and methods, including test plan, test procedure, and test report development, and test execution.
  • Installation, integration, and/or implementation with complex communication systems that accommodate specific user requirements.
  • Solid mechanical skills needed for maintaining and replacing equipment, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and an advanced understanding of electronic component installation and wiring.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another engineering degree.
  • Coursework, labs, or projects that have provided a basic knowledge of UNIX or Linux (RHEL) is strongly desired.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time across the United States.
  • Basic knowledge of networking (routers, switches).
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Basic knowledge of cabling and electronics is desired.
  • Permanent Residency or US Citizenship required for the FAA clearance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
