Job Summary:

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at Heritage House in Troy. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being. Responsibilities:

Assist nursing personnel in providing basic care for residents, including bathing, feeding, and positioning. Perform selected resident care as directed by the RN or LPN, maintaining the dignity of the resident and in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Create and maintain a calm and positive environment through the unit and shift. Provide resident care, including assisting with hygiene needs, feeding, and employing special oral feeding techniques. Measure intake and output accurately and document on worksheets and graphic sheets. Check and report bowel movements and character of stools as instructed. Perform routine colostomy care and answer resident calls promptly. Ensure that residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently. Weigh residents using upright, chair, and bed scales. Measure and record temperatures, pulse, and respirations as instructed. Maintain safety measures and transfer or weigh residents using appropriate lifts. Assist residents in using the bathroom, shower, urinal, bedpan, and commode. Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, and linens as needed. Change bed linens, make beds, and provide extra covers as requested. Ambulate residents, including those using canes and walkers, as instructed. Assist in transporting residents to/from appointments, activities, and social programs. Position bedfast residents in comfortable positions, assist with turning, and assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. Perform skin assessments and notify the Charge Nurse of any abnormalities in skin integrity. Measure and document vital signs and weights, reporting any variations to the Charge Nurse. Apply cold packs and warm compresses as needed. Uphold residents' Bill of Rights and document resident-related tasks in appropriate records. Assist with postmortem care and discharge of resident transfers. Attend and participate in scheduled training, in-services, and educational classes as required. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Must be able to read, write, and speak English; High School Diploma or equivalent life-experience preferred. Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with New York State. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a sincere desire to serve others. Must be able to relay information concerning a resident's condition. Must have patience, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents. Must possess the ability to work professionally with other staff, residents, family members, and outside agencies/visitors.

Pay and Benefits:

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
