Career Connected Learning Navigator

Southwestern Oregon Community College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Career Connected Learning Navigator to join our team. As a key member of our instructional team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing career-connected learning systems that support the educational and career goals of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build relationships and connections with K-12 schools and community partners to develop and maintain career-connected learning systems.
  • Represent Southwestern Oregon Community College in collaboration with local K-12 and workforce partners to promote career-connected learning opportunities.
  • Support the improvement of outreach to K-12 students through marketing, recruitment, onboarding, advising, and professional learning.
  • Help identify and remove barriers to student transition into CTE college programs and/or careers.
  • Actively participate in CCL Network meetings, professional development, data collection requirements, and program evaluation.
  • Research and make available best current knowledge of successful projects and experiences in the region.
  • Recommend best and promising practices of systems of support, programmatic structures & standards, and data & tracking systems to local education agencies and other education and community partners.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or related field.
  • OR Associate's degree and three (3) or more years of experience in career technical education, project management, or related area.
  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in project management and/or CTE.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter.
  • Ability to work with adult learners, traditional age students, agency partners, and college staff.
  • Knowledge of college systems of a sufficient level to advise high school students in the knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite for success in post-secondary courses and programs.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and work independently to accomplish those procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to manage a flexible work schedule with self-discipline, including travel, various hours and possible weekends/evenings, as well as workdays at other college locations.
  • Exhibit a high level of computer literacy sufficient to use software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases to produce correspondence, documents, and reports.
  • Ability to work effectively and sensitively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, which include varied and unrelated tasks.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and objectivity under constant pressure.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidential communications with schools, parents, staff, participants and community partner.
  • Demonstrated commitment, by work experience and/or community involvement, in providing services for minority, low-income, or disabled persons.
  • Knowledge of the world of work, assessment testing and the transfer process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that will consistently cultivate positive relationships with internal and external constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in project management, K-12 or community college education, CTE programs, and/or career coaching/advising.
