We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Material Handler to join our team at Staples, Inc. As a Lead Material Handler, you will be responsible for mentoring and training new material handlers, filling in for supervisors as needed, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of material handling equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Mentor and train new material handlers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
- Fulfill supervisory responsibilities as needed, including overseeing the operation of material handling equipment and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
- Lift, lower, and carry product in a fast-paced environment, stacking empty pallets and maintaining a safe and clean workspace.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to move product within the warehouse.
- Ensure safe work practices and adhere to safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- 12+ months related experience in a warehouse environment; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience.
- Ability to pass a drug screen to the extent permissible legally.
- Ability to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift; additional overtime hours will be required based on business need.
- Ability to lift, push or pull equipment/merchandise weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand 100% of the time.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
- Competitive Pay: $21.25/ hour, starting rate.
