Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create and implement tailored IEPs for students with disabilities, taking into account their unique needs and learning styles.
- Provide Direct Instruction and Support: Deliver instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and behavioral strategies based on students' IEP goals, and provide support to students as needed.
- Collaborate with Colleagues and Families: Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Utilize Assessment Data and Technology: Use assessment data and technology to inform instructional decisions and develop appropriate interventions to support student learning.
- Create a Positive and Inclusive Classroom Environment: Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes students' social-emotional development and fosters a sense of belonging.
- Maintain Accurate Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress and participation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in Professional Development: Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities to support continuous improvement and student success.
- Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid Michigan teaching certification with Special Education endorsement or ability to obtain certification.
- Experience and Skills: Experience working with elementary-age students with disabilities in a special education setting. Knowledge of best practices in special education, including IEP development, differentiated instruction, and behavior management techniques. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders.
