Job Summary:

The School Nurse will be responsible for managing a comprehensive health service program, implementing mandated health screening programs, and managing the school's medication program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatrics, community health, or a related field, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive health service program for students, including health screenings, medication management, and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to provide a coordinated approach to student health.
  • Assess and manage students with a wide range of physical and behavioral illnesses, including diabetes and asthma.
  • Provide emergency care and respond to medical emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students.
  • Write and submit injury reports for staff members as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatrics, community health, or a related field.
  • Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing License as an RN.
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as a School Nurse.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data, and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Bi-lingual skills are a plus.
