Job Title: Personal Care Assistant - In-Home Support

Job Summary: Comfort Keepers of Summerville, SC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with activities of daily living.

Job Duties:

  • Grooming & Hygiene: Assist clients with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Mobility Assistance: Provide support with mobility, including using transfer aids such as hoyer lifts and gait belts.
  • Transferring & Positioning: Safely transfer clients from one location to another, and position them in a comfortable and safe manner.
  • Toileting & Incontinence Care: Assist clients with toileting needs, including incontinence care and managing bowel and bladder functions.
  • Meal Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook meals for clients, taking into account their dietary needs and preferences.
  • Light Housekeeping & Laundry: Assist with light housekeeping and laundry tasks, including cleaning and organizing living spaces.
  • Grocery Shopping/Errands/Transportation: Accompany clients on grocery shopping trips, run errands, and provide transportation as needed.
  • Medication Reminders: Remind clients to take their medications, and assist with medication management as needed.
  • Working with Dementia/Alzheimer's Clients: Provide care and support to clients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including managing challenging behaviors and providing emotional support.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 6 months of caregiving experience preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the ability of the client. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed throughout the shift.
  • Qualifications: Must be bondable and meet or exceed minimum qualifications for criminal background investigation and motor vehicle driving record. Must have valid South Carolina Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Skills: Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. Empathy for the needs of the client. Treat clients, families, staff, and the public with courtesy and respect; presents a positive public image. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ensures confidentiality and security of the client's medical information.
