Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team at Kirkwood Community College. As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for leading our banquet and event services, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and providing training and guidance to our staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage banquet and event services, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Train and develop staff members to provide excellent service and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assign work schedules and tasks to ensure efficient operation and timely delivery of services.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve service quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of events and services.
  • Resolve customer complaints and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Analyze and record operational data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance service quality and efficiency.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, and knowledge of personal computers.
  • Previous bartending and serving experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-high school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of full-time experience in a related hospitality setting or equivalent education and work experience.
Work Environment

This position involves working in a fast-paced business event setting, with occasional viewing of equipment and materials, frequent reaching, sitting, pulling, grasping, pushing, and lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance. Constant walking, standing, repetitive motion, talking, and listening are also required.
