Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Specialist reports directly to the QC Supervisor and the Food Safety/QA Manager. In this position, the duties and responsibilities include continuously monitoring and enforcing controls relative to the food manufacturing process, with a strong focus on hygiene and sanitation. The successful candidate will ensure efficient and effective operational functionality of products by performing several quality control analytical processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspection rounds to follow up on product quality.
  • Ensure that employees adhere to manufacturing, hygiene, and sanitation standards (GMPs) in all departments.
  • Support production staff in problem-solving efforts.
  • Calibrate, measure, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Support SQF guidelines and HARPC analyses.
Requirements:
  • Be a consistent presence in the assigned production area(s); conducting visual inspections for GMPs violations in each department.
  • Required to stand and walk, for long periods throughout the day (95% floor - 5% computer). Collect, label, log, bag, and organize samples to be sent to lab and verify all orders being sent.
  • Check and release product(s) from the hold list when the product is being shipped.
  • Maintain all SQF and Food Safety standards for facility and employees.
  • Process Improvement, Analyzing Information, and Strategic Planning.
  • Adhere and follow ALL Corporate Guidelines and Code of Conduct (Employee Handbook).
Skills:
  • A full understanding, and grasp, of GMPs and Food Safety.
  • A full understanding, and grasp, of the SQF scheme's guidelines and its requirements, as well as regulatory agencies (FDA, NJ Dpt. of Health, etc.) food safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and web browsing (Chrome, Edge, etc). Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal; and be a proven leader with a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and comprehend weights, measurements, and mathematical equations.
  • Able to effectively understand and adhere to a variety of guidelines and work procedures, including health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation; along with prioritizing and organizing workload.
