Responsibilities- Assist residents with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide nursing functions as directed by supervisor, including daily perineal care, catheter care, and turning residents in bed.
- Prepare residents for meals and snacks, and assist with feeding as needed.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of basic preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing care.
- Perform delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Assist in data collection on the Admission Data Record.
- Contribute to the development of the patient/significant other plan of care based on the identified patient problems/needs.
- Carry out physician orders accurately, directly, and indirectly.
- Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the nursing care administered relative to the patient/significant other identified problems/needs.
- Document pertinent observations and interventions on appropriate records.
- Perform selected tasks related to patient care and the patient's environment in a safe manner.
- Administer medication accurately, observing patient response.
- Perform limited I.V. Therapy procedures on those patients receiving peripherally inserted Intravenous fluids, as delegated by and observed by the RN.
- Maintain and coordinate communication among patient/significant other, staff, and physician.
- Give punctual change of shift report consisting of pertinent and relevant information for assigned patients.
- Provide patient/significant other health teaching as delegated by and observed by the RN.
- Participate in staff development programs and meetings as requested.
- Graduate of a nationally approved Nursing program.
- Maintain current BLS/CPR certification from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC).
- Must be currently licensed by the State Board of Nursing.
