Shift Details: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Additional Notes: No weekend shifts. Availability for holiday work is required if it coincides with scheduled shifts.

Role Overview:

The Radiologic Technologist I is tasked with performing diagnostic imaging procedures at a level that does not necessitate constant oversight. This position includes generating diagnostic images, conducting portable x-ray assessments, and supporting physicians in the administration of radiopaque contrast agents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic imaging by accurately positioning patients, utilizing immobilization devices, and selecting suitable technical parameters tailored to individual patient requirements.
  • Limit radiation exposure by employing cone and collimating devices to safeguard unaffected areas of the patient.
  • Execute portable x-ray procedures in various settings including patient rooms, operating theaters, and emergency departments.
  • Adhere to established protocols for identifying patient films with the correct identifiers and ensuring accurate film marking.
  • Process exposed x-ray films using available methods, ensuring patient requisitions are completed with necessary details.
  • Maintain a clean and organized x-ray environment as directed by departmental leadership.
  • Prepare and assist in the administration of radiopaque contrast media under physician guidance.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to appointment scheduling, patient communication, film documentation, and record maintenance.
  • Assist patients with mobility and positioning on x-ray tables, considering their individual needs and capabilities.
  • Meet physical demands including lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Recognize and address the specific needs of the patient demographic served, adjusting care accordingly.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, ensuring comprehension at their level.
  • Comply with the standards outlined in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to operate independently in high-pressure environments such as emergency and trauma care.

Educational Background:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. prerequisites.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • New Jersey State License.
  • Eligibility for the National Registry with successful examination completion.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Language Proficiency: English (Speak, Read, Write)

Minimum Educational Requirement: High School Diploma or GED
