Aquatic Safety Supervisor, Seasonal Position

Position Overview:

This is a full-time, seasonal role dedicated to ensuring the safety of all aquatic participants during creek and pool activities. The selected candidate will oversee compliance with water safety regulations and collaborate closely with the Aquatics Coordinator to design and execute engaging activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring they are within sight and sound.
  • Conduct frequent headcounts and visual checks to maintain safety standards.
  • Be trained as a Mandated Reporter, conducting daily health assessments to ensure the well-being of all participants.
  • Report any concerns regarding child welfare to the appropriate authorities promptly.
  • Adhere to DHS regulations regarding pool ratios.
  • Lead boating programs and swimming lessons, ensuring all participants follow established safety protocols.
  • Maintain daily logs of pool chemical levels and oversee the upkeep of aquatic equipment.
  • Document camper swim levels and designated swim zones accurately.
  • Submit reports, timesheets, and other necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Communicate YWCA policies and procedures effectively to staff, children, and parents.
  • Review and implement guidelines from the Guidance Manual and Family Handbook.
  • Maintain all required certifications.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned when not engaged in water activities.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
  • Documented experience of at least 2500 hours in childcare.
  • Hold current certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR, and First Aid.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates should be able to:

  • Lift, push, or pull weights between 50-75 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Engage in physical activities with campers, including hiking and canoeing.

Customer Service Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with children, parents, and staff.
