Overview

At Elwood Animal Hospital, we're committed to providing exceptional care to our patients and their families. As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you'll play a vital role in our Support Department, working closely with our veterinary team to deliver top-notch medical care.

As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for providing leadership and training to our medical support staff, ensuring seamless operations in our small animal facility. You'll also provide medical care to patients under the supervision of our veterinarians, communicating effectively with team members and clients to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and uphold our Core Values and Mission Statement.
  • Provide guidance to support staff to ensure smooth shift operations.
  • Mentor team members for career advancement and personal development.
  • Contribute to 360-degree employee performance evaluations.
  • Provide patient care under veterinary supervision.
  • Ensure excellent client communication.
  • Record accurate medical, client, and case information in patient records.
  • Review medical records, estimates, and discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer client inquiries about basic animal care and routine procedures.

Additional Functions:
  • Provide client care for scheduling appointments, taking payments, and checking in clients.
  • Answer phones in a courteous and informative manner.
  • Contribute to training program feedback and updates.
  • Participate in job shadows or working interviews as needed.
  • Participate in training as necessary.
  • Assist with special cleaning duties.
  • Perform clinic upkeep as directed.
  • Perform equipment maintenance as directed.
  • Delegate additional cleaning duties as needed during slow times.
  • Identify areas or items needing additional attention.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • State Department of Regulation Licensing required.
  • 1+ Years of Veterinary industry experience required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Ability to manipulate up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with a coworker.
  • Ability to work in noisy conditions with sounds from animals and equipment.
  • Ability to be exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Travel Required: Minimal travel required for vendor visits and associate education.
