BIM/VDC Specialist

This position plays a vital role within the Project Operations team, focusing on the implementation of BIM/VDC methodologies for Aviation Projects at Austin Bridge & Road.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  1. Act as the BIM/VDC Model Administrator for designated projects.
  2. Execute BIM/VDC protocols on assigned initiatives.
  3. Engage on-site to implement BIM/VDC construction processes.
  4. Remain updated on the latest BIM technologies and methodologies.
Model Development & Oversight:
  1. Generate as-built models reflecting site conditions, structures, and utilities as required.
  2. Ensure model quality and precision through validation.
  3. Oversee model revisions and manage distribution effectively.
  4. Develop custom model components and families as necessary.
Coordination Among Trades and Field:
  1. Establish and maintain BIM/VDC coordination timelines for assigned projects.
  2. Manage and disseminate BIM/VDC coordination documentation.
  3. Lead the BIM/VDC coordination efforts, identifying conflicts and facilitating resolutions.
  4. Monitor and report on the progress and efficiency of BIM/VDC coordination.
  5. Document and distribute minutes from coordination meetings.
  6. Oversee the creation and review of BIM/VDC shop and field drawings.
  7. Produce dimensioned drawings from models for field applications as needed.
  8. Assist in BIM/VDC layout and support field as-built verification.
  9. Coordinate and track construction plans, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in BIM/VDC.
  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction-related BIM/VDC processes and software, particularly AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
  • General understanding of project delivery methods and their implications for BIM/VDC services.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and public speaking abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction terminology, processes, materials, systems, and documentation.
  • Solid grasp of planning and scheduling principles, including construction work sequencing.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control practices.
