Position Overview

The Oilfield Electrician is responsible for diagnosing and resolving electrical issues related to oilfield machinery. This role involves interpreting technical manuals and schematics to ensure optimal performance of electrical systems. The electrician will conduct tests on repaired equipment to confirm compliance with safety standards and operational specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair electrical motor controls and systems across various voltage levels.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical components, including motor controllers.
  • Execute the installation of electrical conduits, wiring, and control systems.
  • Fabricate and weld structural supports for new installations and renovations.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in overhead line work, including power lines and transformers.
  • Commit to safety practices by assessing risks and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with other personnel to troubleshoot and resolve non-electrical issues.
  • Safely operate mobile equipment as required for job performance.
  • Engage in training and development relevant to the position.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Electrical Supervisor.
  • Supervise contractors as necessary.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs as required.
  • Estimate material needs and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of others in the work area.
  • Familiarity with Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out procedures.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and recommend upgrades or repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Complete other assigned tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with overhead line work, including power distribution systems.
  • Preferred electrical certification, such as a Master Tradesman License.
  • Strong understanding of electrical drive systems.
  • Experience operating bucket trucks.
  • Familiarity with oilfield electrical equipment.
  • Technical training in electrical systems is preferred.
  • General knowledge of machinery and electrical codes.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
  • Understanding of secondary electrical systems and modifications.
