We are seeking a skilled Painter Associate to join our team at the California Institute of Technology. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for applying your expertise in painting and finishing to ensure the highest quality results in our buildings and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure a Safe Work Environment: Maintain a clean and secure work environment, adhering to all safety procedures and protocols.
- Prepare and Paint Surfaces: Utilize various painting materials, including varnish, lacquer, enamel, latex, and epoxy, to prepare and paint surfaces of machines, manufactured products, and working areas.
- Operate Painting Equipment: Safely operate and maintain all painting equipment, including brushes, rollers, and sprayers, pumps, and other tools.
- Conduct Graffiti Removal: Effectively remove graffiti using a variety of available products.
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with shop personnel and other facilities teams to ensure seamless execution of projects.
- Perform Other Duties: Conduct other assigned duties as required to support the team's objectives.
- High School Education or Equivalent: Possess a high school education or equivalent, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial or residential experience.
- Proficiency in Painting and Finishing: Be proficient in all areas of furniture refinishing, including stripping, stain matching, and application of finish coats.
- Valid California Driver's License: Maintain a valid California driver's license throughout the course of employment.
- Physical Demands: Be able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders, as well as work with filter masks in a spray booth.
- University or Facilities Experience: Possess 1 year of work experience in a university or facilities setting.
- Automated Work Order System Proficiency: Be proficient with automated work order systems and timekeeping applications.
