Job Summary

The Douglas County School System is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, attractive, and clean environment for students, staff, and school clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and clean school facilities, including floors, walls, windows, and restrooms
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as inspecting tools and equipment, and performing minor repairs
  • Ensure that all exit doors are open and panic bolts are working properly during building occupancy
  • Report any damage to school property to the Principal or Assistant Principal
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or GED preferred
  • Sufficient education and/or training to read, write, and perform basic math operations
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather conditions
  • Knowledge of methods and materials essential to good housekeeping and sanitation practices
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will be required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and have depth perception. The position also requires the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including cold, hot, wet, and high humidity.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position will be based on the Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified experience. The position also offers a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
