As a Financial Consultant, you will be an integral part of Optum Health, the healthcare delivery division of Optum. You will collaborate with a distinguished team of finance and accounting professionals who are pivotal in driving our organization’s history and success as a global leader in the industry.
This position involves direct communication and collaboration with senior operational and medical leadership on a daily basis, conducting regular and ad-hoc financial analyses to enhance the performance of our clinics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provider Compensation and Incentive Calculations: Execute monthly and quarterly assessments of provider productivity and quality initiatives that influence their compensation. Develop reporting outcomes and present findings to senior management and operational leadership. Educate physicians on compensation structures and incentives.
- Forecasting and Budgeting: Collaborate with senior and departmental leaders to oversee the creation of budgets and periodic forecasts. Develop cost/benefit analyses and assess staffing requirements for key strategies or initiatives. Contribute to the development of company-wide business plans and strategies.
- Variance Reporting and Analysis: Participate in and oversee the month-end revenue process. Conduct variance analyses comparing actual performance against forecasts and budgets. Assist in maintaining and enhancing P&L reporting.
- Strategic Analysis: Manage and create ad hoc requests and reporting for senior management.
- Acquisition Analysis and Presentation: Conduct comprehensive financial and qualitative assessments of potential acquisitions of provider groups and network agreements. Perform valuation analyses, including multi-year discounted cash flow calculations and assessments of tax return information.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive professional experience in finance and/or accounting.
- At least 2 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
- Ability to translate complex concepts into understandable terms for diverse audiences.
- Experience in navigating ambiguous environments and offering innovative solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (including Pivot Tables, advanced formulas, and data analysis).
- Demonstrated executive presence with exceptional communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Current residency in the greater Denver area with the ability to commute to the office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA degree.
- CPA certification.
- Experience with Hyperion Essbase, databases, and/or PeopleSoft.
- Experience in a collaborative team environment.
- Background in healthcare.
- Experience working directly with providers or physicians.
- Experience in client-facing roles, both internal and external.
