As a key member of the Temple University Hospital healthcare team, the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality procedural anesthesia care under the supervision of an anesthesiologist.
Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging in accurate, ongoing patient assessments to ensure optimal care
- Communicating effectively with members of the healthcare team to coordinate care
- Utilizing resources efficiently to deliver exceptional patient outcomes
- Documenting care thoroughly in patient records
The CRNA is responsible for administering general, regional anesthetics or Monitored Anesthesia Care during surgical and/or obstetrical procedures under the medical direction of an attending Anesthesiologist.
Key skills and qualifications include:
- Evaluating situations and informing attending Anesthesiologists of patient conditions
- Recommending anesthetics, techniques of administration, and supportive measures
- Checking anesthesia machines, monitoring equipment, supplies, medication, and anesthesia gases
- Monitoring and recording patient vital signs and medication administered
Requirements include:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Masters Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Experience requirements include:
- 1 Year experience in critical care nursing as part of successful completion of CRNA program
- 2 Years experience in an academic medical center or as a CRNA (Preferred)
Required certifications include:
- RN-LIC - PA Registered Nurse License
- CRNA - Cert Registered Nurse Anesth
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
