{"Job Summary

As an Energy Engineer at University Mechanical Contractors, Inc (UMC), you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of energy conservation projects. Your expertise will be utilized to conduct on-site audits, engineering analysis, and thorough communication and fact-finding to identify opportunities for energy savings. You will work closely with the Energy Services team to develop, procure, and execute conservation projects, including building modeling and recommendations for mechanical/energy system design.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the Energy Services team to develop energy conservation project scope and proposal development.
2. Conduct preliminary and detailed facility audits to identify conservation opportunities.
3. Identify and recommend specific conservation measures for existing facilities.
4. Apply building energy modeling programs to develop building load and energy models.
5. Estimate and document energy and operational savings opportunities.
6. Work with Project Managers and Estimating team to develop project cost estimates.
7. Develop and document design concepts for project proposals.
8. Coordinate with utilities to obtain incentives and rebates.
9. Identify project risks and work with project team members to mitigate.
10. Maintain and control documents in compliance with UMC Standards as well as contractual compliance.
11. Review contract drawings, detail drawings, and specifications.
12. Assist in proposal development, bid process, and the procurement of new work.
13. Provide proactive, clear, and timely communication to team members.
14. Develop and maintain client relations.
15. Be professional and uphold UMC Core Values.
16. Setup detailed energy models for new and existing facilities.
17. Understand and apply Energy Codes.

Requirements

1. Ability to support the development of facility audit and energy conservation recommendations.
2. Strong analytical skills.
3. Ability to lead and foster a positive working environment.
4. Ability to understand and communicate energy conservation concepts.
5. Advanced organizational and time management skills.
6. Attention to detail - errors and mistakes can result in significant financial losses.
7. Strong written and oral communication skills.
8. Strong work ethic - results driven.
9. Ability to multi-task job responsibilities.
10. Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project, Access, Autodesk, and AutoCAD.

Education and Certifications

A minimum of two years' experience as an energy engineer is preferred. An engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical) or directly related to energy conservation and modeling is desired. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and LEED Certification are preferred.
