About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Engineer to drive the development of high-performance opto-mechanical subsystems for a new tool platform at Applied Materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently develop and implement opto-mechanical concepts, including high-performance imaging and/or illumination optics, tolerancing, alignment, and automated mechanisms.
  • Participate in all aspects of the design cycle from specification development, design, supplier support, part verification, and integration.
  • Lead and execute engineering projects and spearhead research and development of new technologies as appropriate.
  • Identify and troubleshoot complex engineering problems, specify or perform complex engineering analysis, and interface with internal and external customers regarding complex engineering issues.
  • Generate product specifications, define, coordinate, perform, and document engineering tests, and specify the development, design, or modify engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of complex scope.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in opto-mechanical, precision mechanical, and mechanism design, and familiarity with high-precision optical design implementations.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Solidworks or Inventor, and FEA for static and dynamic structural and thermal analyses.

  • A competitive salary range: $160,000 - $220,000 per year.
