POSITION SUMMARY:
The Radiology Technologist is accountable for executing all diagnostic imaging procedures efficiently and in accordance with physician directives.
As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Radiology Technologist collaborates with colleagues to ensure the safe and precise delivery of patient care.
Furthermore, the Radiology Technologist should be open to cross-training in additional relevant modalities.EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of an accredited radiology program.
- Valid state certification required.
- Preferred: Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) general certification.
- Required: American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Recommended: American Heart Association ACLS and PALS certifications.
- Must possess sensitivity to cultural and bilingual matters.
- Essential: Secretarial experience and organizational skills.
- Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English; Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
- Required: Computer literacy.
- Preferred: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Radiologic Technology.
- Preferred: Experience in a hospital setting.
- Must demonstrate a high level of competency and expertise in radiological procedures.
- Must exhibit accuracy and the ability to adhere closely to established protocols.
- Requires sound reasoning abilities and independent judgment.
- Must be able to work amidst frequent interruptions.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor.
- Promotes the facility's mission, vision, and values through effective communication.
- Integrates mission, vision, and values into service development, standards, and practices.
- Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled imaging procedures.
- Conducts quality control and maintenance on imaging equipment.
- Ensures the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work areas.
- Responsible for performing all X-ray and Fluoroscopy procedures promptly.
- Executes all imaging procedures according to established protocols, optimizing examinations to minimize radiation exposure while ensuring diagnostic-quality images.
- Accurately interprets verbal orders and directions.
- Takes responsibility for the collection and processing of patient specimens.
- Completes documentation on patient records in accordance with policy.
- Proficiently operates the facility's computer systems.
- Ensures exams are verified and completed in PACS and RIS systems.
- Responsible for training radiologic technologists on appropriate procedure protocols.
- Adheres to standards set by the Texas Department of Health (TDH), American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Joint Commission.
- Maintains competencies in equipment and procedures.
- Safely operates all relevant clinical equipment.
- Completes and updates all employment requirements, including Employee Health, Radiology Competencies, and Credentials.
- Call duties may be required if assigned to surgical procedures.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
