As a Senior Chemical Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
- Collaborate with production planning and operations to ensure the safe production of nuclear fuel.
- Analyze current systems and processes to identify both value-added and non-value-added activities, addressing design challenges.
- Assess new and existing processes, equipment, and materials to inform scheduling methods, performance metrics, and financial standards.
- Maintain the company's reputation by delivering innovative solutions while complying with regulatory commitments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying opportunities to reduce waste and inefficiency in production.
- Researching and testing design concepts to evaluate feasibility, employing lean manufacturing, kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies to support innovation and improvements.
- Designing and developing effective manufacturing concepts to streamline processes and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Creating and maintaining necessary product specifications, preventative maintenance schedules, and manufacturing procedures.
- Collaborating with quality engineering to manage materials that deviate from standard manufacturing processes.
- Working closely with upstream and downstream manufacturing areas to ensure efficient product flow.
- Monitoring Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for assigned areas and implementing changes to enhance performance.
- Partnering with area management to track Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and execute process improvements to minimize scrap and rework.
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably chemical engineering.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- A comprehensive understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Hands-on experience in building small prototypes.
- Proficiency in analytical tools, workflow time studies, and process balancing.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with program managers, manufacturing leads, customers, and functional leads.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
