Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at Nuvance Health. As a key member of our dietary staff, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for patients, hospital staff, and special functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for patients, hospital staff, and special functions
- Monitor kitchen staff and ensure a clean and safe working environment
- Assist in planning special functions and menus
- Make menu changes as needed
Requirements
- Ability to read and write English, follow oral and written directions, and make simple calculations
- Culinary Certificate or equivalent job experience
- Safe Serve or equivalent sanitation certificate required within six months of hire
- Two years of experience as a cook in an institutional setting, healthcare preferred
Work Environment
This role requires standing and walking for most of the day, with occasional bending and reaching. You must be able to lift 50 pounds and communicate effectively. The work environment can be noisy, hot, moist, and odorous at times, with temperature changes and potentially slippery floors.
Job Relationships
You will be responsible to the Chef Supervisor and Manager, and work with all other dietary staff members.
