The Lead Credit Risk Assessment Specialist plays a crucial role in the organization's risk oversight activities, focusing on identifying and analyzing trends within the loan and investment portfolios that may signal increasing risks.

This position is tasked with comprehending and assessing regulatory standards to ensure compliance with relevant requirements.

The role involves conducting continuous analysis and formulating recommendations that are presented to senior management across the enterprise, utilizing advanced industry data science tools to synthesize and interpret data, and collaborating with colleagues to develop actionable insights.

The Lead Credit Risk Assessment Specialist will also contribute to the creation of new enterprise risk reporting through business intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and generate key performance indicators, risk metrics, and benchmarks to track growth, delinquency, and recovery rates.
2. Communicate findings to enterprise risk management and pertinent committees.
3. Create analytical models and propose enterprise strategies to identify and manage credit risk effectively.
4. Analyze trends affecting credit risk and provide timely recommendations to address areas of concern.
5. Conduct complex analyses and modeling to uncover patterns that may contribute to heightened risk.
6. Evaluate credit and investment counterparty risks to identify trends and suggest appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
7. Collaborate with senior leadership to devise systems and strategies for effective credit risk management, including monitoring techniques.
8. Review existing credit policies and underwriting guidelines, recommending adjustments based on portfolio trend analysis.
9. Establish and maintain a comprehensive reporting framework for assessing all credit and counterparty risks.
10. Perform trend analysis based on various metrics and provide management with informed recommendations.
11. Work closely with partners, vendors, and third parties to enhance risk management strategies.
12. Support junior Credit Risk Analysts in their development.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in finance, computer science, risk management, or a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered).
- 8+ years of experience in data and credit analysis, preferably within a financial institution.
- 5+ years of experience with SQL and report writing using SSRS.
- 4+ years of experience with Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Qlik.
- In-depth knowledge of credit underwriting, counterparty review, loss mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy), VBA, Power BI, and shell scripting is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret extensive data sets.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines consistently.
- Maintain confidentiality and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with various stakeholders.
- Capable of influencing policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
