ROLE OVERVIEW
In this position, you will perform all tasks in a safe manner, adhering to plant safety regulations while collaborating effectively with your team. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that all production and service equipment operates reliably and maintaining the equipment within the facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct maintenance activities on production and service equipment.
- Maintain tools utilized within the department.
- Address and rectify product spillage issues.
- Operate machinery such as forklifts, skid loaders, and telehandlers.
- Handle heavy equipment, including chainfalls and comealongs.
- Be available for overtime as required.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Perform electric arc welding tasks.
- Comply with Environmental Health Safety (EHS) policies, ensuring that environmental, health, and safety considerations are prioritized.
- Follow safety procedures during maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to standard work instructions for effective utilization of resources.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma.
Experience: Previous experience in a cement plant or equivalent familiarity with processes, locations, and functions.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of the Ferris State Evaluation Test and commitment to further education to address identified weaknesses.
- Willingness to engage in formal training to achieve journeyman status.
- Knowledge of plant safety procedures and regulations.
- Proficiency in the safe use of essential tools of the trade.
- Ability to navigate a cement plant, including overcoming obstacles, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting heavy components, and wearing personal protective equipment.
