About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Lead Sales Associate to join our team at Dollar General. As a Lead Sales Associate, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, well-organized store and providing exceptional customer service to our valued customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service Leadership: Provide superior customer service leadership, greet and assist customers, and respond to customer inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Cash Handling and Operations: Operate a cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer purchases, collect payment from customers, and make change as needed.
  • Merchandise Management: Follow company work processes to receive, open, and unpack boxes, cartons, and totes of merchandise, stock merchandise, restock and rotate merchandise on shelves, and build merchandise displays.
  • Store Maintenance: Clean the store, take out trash, dust and mop store floors, clean restrooms and stockrooms, and help set up sidewalk displays.
  • Planogram Implementation: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of planograms to ensure merchandise is displayed in an attractive and easy-to-shop manner.
  • Opening and Closing Procedures: Open and close the store under the specific direction of the Store Manager, and perform additional duties typically performed by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in their absence.
Requirements
  • Effective Communication: Possess effective interpersonal and oral communication skills to interact with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Safety Awareness: Understand and follow safety policies and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Mathematical Skills: Possess the ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Cash Handling: Possess the ability to perform cash register functions and follow cash handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent Walking and Standing: Frequently walk and stand to perform duties, including operating a cash register, stocking merchandise, and cleaning the store.
  • Frequent Lifting and Bending: Frequently lift and bend to stock merchandise, unload trucks, and perform other duties.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
