- Implement physician orders to provide visualization of the operative site, using appropriate methods to manipulate tissue and materials, retract, sponge, suction, and irrigate.
- Utilize techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.
- Assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems, demonstrating a commitment to patient care and recovery.
- Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice, ensuring that care is delivered based on patient-specific needs and clinical requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the professional practice model.
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the team.
- Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards for RN first assistant education or RNFA education equivalency for RNFA certification.
- Two years' registered nurse experience in an advanced surgical specialty or completion of an APRN program with RNFA certification.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice, issued by a compact state or the state's nursing board.
