Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Low Income Housing Institute. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and comfort of our residents.

The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) has a 30-year history of providing innovative solutions to homelessness, advocating for housing justice, and operating hygiene services for homeless people. Our mission is to create supportive communities where people can thrive.

Salary and Benefits:

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary range of $22.48-24.69 per hour, DOE, with opportunities for advancement and professional growth. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life/disability, retirement, vacation and sick leave.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, including common areas, grounds, and resident units;
  2. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as light carpentry, painting, and repairing locks and light bulbs;
  3. Respond to light maintenance or cleaning emergencies as needed;
  4. Assist the Special Projects Manager with site inspections and creating work requests for maintenance needs;
  5. Inventory and maintain basic cleaning and light maintenance supplies;
  6. Prepare units for new intake, including light maintenance, cleaning, and painting;
  7. Complete LIHI work orders for all non-routine cleaning and grounds work;
  8. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  1. One year of building maintenance or janitorial experience;
  2. Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills;
  3. Experience working with low-income people and a diverse population;
  4. Excellent written and verbal skills;
  5. Ability to pass background and drug screening tests.
