Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Sommelier to join our team at The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional wine service to our guests, including wine pairings, wine list management, and wine education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles with precision and attention to detail.
  • Answer guest questions and concerns regarding wine origin, vintage, and style.
  • Update and maintain wine lists and MICROS system to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Pair and suggest wines that complement menu items, enhancing the dining experience for our guests.
  • Attend wine tastings and develop relationships with vendors to stay up-to-date on the latest wine offerings.
  • Request new wines and products to expand our wine selection and meet guest demands.
  • Create and update wine lists to reflect seasonal changes and guest preferences.
  • Design and implement wine promotions and incentive programs to drive sales and engagement.
  • Monitor and replenish wine cellar, equipment, and glassware inventory to ensure seamless service.
  • Train and educate server and bartender staff on wine knowledge and service standards.
  • Conduct vintage and BIN number checks to ensure accuracy and authenticity.
  • Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas to maintain a safe and organized environment.
  • Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly and maintain accurate spill sheets.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of related work experience in the wine and hospitality industry.
  • Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree or equivalent experience.
  • No supervisory experience required.
  • No license or certification required.
