Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct American Sign Language Instructor to join our faculty team at College of the Canyons. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching American Sign Language courses and contributing to the development of our ASL program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach American Sign Language courses to students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote student learning and retention
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of ASL program curriculum
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
  • Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • OR - Any bachelor's degree and two (2) years of full-time equivalent professional experience directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment or the equivalent
  • OR - Any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment or the equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching American Sign Language courses
  • Knowledge of ASL curriculum and program development
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues
Working Conditions

Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening), as well as Saturday classes. Adjunct Salary Rate: Starting at $88.30 per hour.
