Nurse Clinician II Position

UTMB Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Clinician II to join our team. As an Advanced Beginner Clinician, you will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to meet nursing standards for professional practice specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act without supervision. You will recognize when assistance is needed and seek appropriate resources, practicing a balance of dependent and interdependent decision making. Your focus will be on expanding your knowledge and skills for the specialty area, providing patient care through nursing-based practices upon the American Nurses Association Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance.
Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document the daily care of assigned patients
Identify nursing diagnoses/patient care needs, develop and individualize care plans, and revise plans of care as needed
Execute physician's orders for all assigned patients, administer medications and treatments, and deliver culturally congruent and specialty-appropriate competent nursing care in accordance with UTMB's policies, procedures, and standards in a caring and compassionate manner
Perform routine technical procedures/skills in the specialty area assigned
Provide basic patient/family instruction and healthcare teaching based on identified learning needs, utilizing evidence-based resources to provide patient/family education
Plan, coordinate, and prioritize patient care activities according to skill level and work complexity, maintaining safety and continuity of care using methods such as bedside shift report, hand-off tools/processes, inter-disciplinary rounding, etc.
Demonstrate effective time management skills, delegate appropriately, and seek guidance when needed
Demonstrate competent use of technology in the delivery of patient care
Requirements:
RN with six months of clinical RN experience and/or successful completion of probationary NC I period documented on nursing evaluation tool
Registered Nurse license or valid permit to practice in Texas
Completes required specialty-specific Competency-Based Orientation (CBO) tools by the initial performance evaluation due date for placement in employee file
Actively participates in ongoing self-evaluation of competency using Competency-Based Orientation (CBO) tools and e-performance nursing appraisal
Completes the annual self-evaluation on time for competency and performance evaluation
