About the Position:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor II to join our team at Amity Foundation, an internationally recognized organization dedicated to providing rehabilitative programming services in prison settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based treatment programs to participants, conducting individual and group sessions.
- Implement scheduled program curricula, utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic approaches.
- Engage participants daily, enforcing group rules and expectations for participation and completion.
- Work closely with participants to develop and implement personalized treatment plans, educating them about supportive networks upon release.
- Monitor and record treatment progress, noting visible changes in appearance, behavior, and demeanor of program participants.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records, evaluating and documenting progress.
- Complete all delivery documentation requirements, summarizing participants' backgrounds, treatment plans, and recovery outcomes.
- Liaise with transition/reentry staff, preparing transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
- Collaborate with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS, and institution staff, supporting co-faculty members, including supervisors, directors, and regional directors.
- Participate in monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum training, technical assistance training, or other training as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A Master's Degree or above in a social service-related field; and licensed by, or registered with, the Board of Behavioral Sciences; or Registered with an AOD certifying organization recognized by DHCS; OR
- A Bachelor's Degree in a social service-related field and AOD certified; OR
- An Associate's Degree in social service-related field, AOD certified, and six (6) months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor; OR
- AOD certified and one (1) to two (2) years of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
