Role Summary: Responsible for the transportation and distribution of library resources to various community branches and partner sites, while maintaining accurate records of circulated materials and vehicle documentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
● At least 15 hours of college coursework or relevant experience
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Valid Driver's License with a clean driving history
Preferred Qualifications:
● Background in public library systems
● Experience in community outreach and engagement initiatives
Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to the role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Delivery Coordination:
● Ensure timely delivery and collection of library materials at community branches and partner locations, including occasional trips to recycling facilities.
Material Circulation:
● Manage incoming and outgoing holds for patrons at partner locations.
● Accurately circulate library resources to patrons in accordance with established policies.
● Generate due date notifications for materials and inform patrons when items are available for pickup.
● Assist patrons in navigating the online catalog and utilizing library services, reference materials, and databases.
Record Keeping:
● Maintain comprehensive records and statistics regarding circulated and returned items at partner locations.
● Complete detailed delivery and travel logs for library materials and vehicles.
● Submit fuel and mileage documentation promptly.
Library Book Drop Oversight:
● Regularly inspect book drop locations for damage and maintenance needs.
● Report any maintenance concerns to the appropriate staff.
● Schedule and conduct routine cleaning of book drop areas.
Vehicle Maintenance Support:
● Keep accurate records for library vehicles.
● Notify relevant staff of any vehicle maintenance requirements.
Team Communication:
● Engage in effective, timely, and respectful communication with colleagues through various channels including in-person, phone, written, or email.
● Communicate promptly regarding scheduling, absences, performance issues, procedures, and policies.
● Collaborate effectively with IT regarding technological concerns and the use of the IT support system.

While performing the responsibilities of this role, the employee may be expected to:
● Frequently move to access library materials and office equipment located on the floor, in bins, and on shelves up to 6 feet high.
● Daily maneuver rolling carts and bins weighing up to 300 lbs.
● Repeatedly lift bins weighing up to 40 lbs.
● Operate a library vehicle in various driving conditions.
● Work outdoors in varying weather conditions during deliveries.
● Regularly use a computer, printer, barcode scanner, and other office equipment.
● Communicate information and ideas clearly and effectively.
Skills and Abilities:
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with internet usage, office software (e.g., Google, Microsoft), and email
● Excellent interpersonal skills
● Knowledge of reader interests, books, authors, and reference materials
● Familiarity with automated library circulation systems and online databases
● Understanding of various information sources, including digital and online resources
● Ability to demonstrate supervisory, decision-making, leadership, and team-building skills
● Competence in prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple projects
● Capability to maintain performance standards in fulfilling assigned duties
● Ability to interact positively and effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public
● Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting, demonstrating professionalism, good judgment, and reliability
● Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and priorities, including adjusting work schedules as necessary
