About the Role

Ripple is seeking a highly skilled Cryptography Research Engineer Intern to join our RippleX Research team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for exploring the next generation of cryptographic algorithms and protocols to support the latest advancements in XRPL and the broader crypto ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop innovative cryptographic solutions to address emerging challenges in the crypto space
  • Collaborate with engineers and product teams to drive critical projects forward and develop a tangible roadmap
  • Develop technical specifications and academic papers for innovative projects and independently develop proof of concepts to validate research
  • Closely collaborate with the engineering team to implement research findings
  • Provide review and guidance to leadership to ensure business and strategic alignment
  • Set milestones for timely and on-budget completion of high-quality work
  • Represent Ripple research in the community through active participation in standards bodies, academic conferences, social media, and workshops
Requirements
  • Strong familiarity with the latest blockchain cryptography and security techniques
  • Deep understanding of elliptic curve and pairing-based cryptography, multi-party computation, and threshold cryptography
  • Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies such as homomorphic encryption, differential privacy, federated learning, and zero-knowledge primitives
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++, Rust, or Go and familiarity with cryptographic libraries
  • A passion for decentralized technologies and a mindset of continuous learning
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with varied audiences
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in cryptography, computer security, computer science, or mathematics
