Reports to: Plant Supervisors
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, disassembly, upkeep, configuration, and adjustment of machinery and mechanical service equipment. This includes systems for ventilation, heating, building repairs, and various pipelines, fittings, and hydraulic systems necessary for both new construction and ongoing maintenance. The role also involves diagnosing and resolving electrical issues, as well as repairing and overhauling electrical apparatus and controls.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluates mechanical and operational challenges on equipment, devising and implementing corrective measures. Adjusts machinery to sustain optimal production levels and quality standards.
- Interprets circuits, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service, or replace electronic devices and systems.
- Executes a variety of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks, including disassembling, relocating, repairing, and installing equipment.
- Installs or troubleshoots machinery based on blueprints or schematics.
- Conducts preventive maintenance inspections on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Collaborates with management to plan upgrades or repairs, ensuring all equipment is tested post-repair or adjustment.
- Ensures all equipment start-ups and shut-downs comply with company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Informs operators and supervisors of potential issues and inherent risks, employing proper lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities.
- Available on-call 24/7 to address breakdowns and repairs.
- Willingness to work overtime with minimal notice.
- Contributes to team objectives by achieving related results as necessary.
- Performs any additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or GED is mandatory, with a preference for a post-secondary degree. Vocational training or technical education in electrical systems, industrial electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, HVAC, or welding is advantageous. A valid state driver's license is required for operating company vehicles. Candidates must possess the ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics, and manuals, as well as comprehend instructions and correspondence. Proficiency in basic arithmetic is essential. Compliance with health and safety regulations, including the consistent use of protective gear, is required. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication abilities are necessary. Candidates should be able to follow instructions and interact positively with colleagues. The ability to meet or exceed productivity goals while working effectively with diverse individuals is crucial. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Flexibility in working hours, including the potential for extended shifts and weekend work, is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Effective oral communication skills are necessary for interactions with staff, management, and the public in various settings. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. The role requires the ability to sit, walk, stand, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods. Employees must be capable of climbing, balancing, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, and adjusting their body position as needed. Climbing and maneuvering on equipment and ladders while adhering to safety protocols is required. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull weights up to 50 lbs is necessary. Candidates must possess sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and tolerate various industrial chemicals and solvents. Wearing personal protective equipment in designated areas is mandatory, and candidates must maintain a safe working environment. Normal hearing and vision ranges are required, along with the ability to distinguish color variations.
